What is Playlist of Color?
Playlist of Color is a diversity initiative that connects independent artists, songwriters, and publishers of color with sync licensing opportunities. We maintain a DISCO library of tracks that are searchable by keywords and embedded with the metadata needed by music supervisors to clear songs for sync. Check out our Spotify playlist and follow us on Instagram.
I’m a music supervisor. Why should I use Playlist of Color?
Playlist of Color features music from independent musicians of color. Too often, this community has been overlooked for sync opportunities. By using our site, you are taking a conscious step to offer more opportunities to indie BIPOC musicians. Best of all, our DISCO Library has been extensively tagged with metadata to help you find and clear the right track for your project.
What is the difference between the Playlist of Color Spotify Playlist, and the website?
We have a Spotify playlist to feature artists from our library, but artists don’t have to be on the Spotify playlist to take advantage of the opportunities we offer. Our main goal is to provide this database to our network of music supervisors and sync professionals to facilitate the clearing of songs for sync, and connect independent musicians of color with sync licensing opportunities.
Does Playlist of Color profit from offering these services?
No. Playlist of Color is designed as a free service for both musicians and music supervisors. There is zero commission for any sync deals made through our site. Please consider making a donation to support the site.
